Perfect man

The Perfect man is the person who both the character and integrity of the Lord Jesus Christ in addition to God's perfect love, which is agape love.


Development of SANCTIFICATION:  Based on 2 Peter 1:2-11

Foundation of Sanctification is MORAL EXCELLENCE

Seven steps toward Sanctification in addition to further instruction found in the context:  Importance of giving all diligence in all seven steps.

  1.  Add to precious faith; virtue or Moral Excellence. (2 Peter 1:5
  2.  Add to moral excellence; Knowledge-intimate knowledge of God. (2 Peter 1:5)
  3.  Add to Knowledge; Self-Control.  (2 Peter 1:6)
  4.  Add to Self-control; Perseverance. (2 Peter 1:6)
  5.  Add to Perservance; Godliness. (2 Peter 1:6)
  6.  Add to Godliness; Brotherly kindness (2 Peter 1:7)
  7.  Add to Brotherly kindness; Love-Agape: Perfect love. (2 Peter 1:7)

Subtracted from Sanctification:  2 Peter 1:9-11.

1.  Barren and unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1: 9-11)

    (a)  If you lack these things you are short-sighted even to spiritual blindness.

 (b)  This person has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

   

Abounding in Sanctification:  2 Peter 1:10-11

1.   Be even more diligent to make your calling and election SURE.  If you do these things

      (a)  You WILL NEVER STUMBLE.

      (b)   Abundant entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

    Best Tool for Sanctification that Peter speaks about in this section of Scripture:

1.  Peter says: “…I will not be negligent to remind you always of these thing.”  (2 Peter 1:12).

2.  Peter says: “Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a REMINDER of these things after my decease.” (2 Peter 1:15).

3.  Peter is referring to the word of God that the Lord is inspiring him to recorded in written form.

4.  Peter testifies that he was a eyewitness of the Majesty of the Lord Jesus Christ. AND he heard a voice came to him from heaven as the Father spoke and glorified His beloved Son. (2 Peter 1:16-18)

5.  Peter says “…and so we have the prophetic word CONFIRMED, which you do well to heed.” Also, he says “…knowing this first, that no prophesy of Scriptures is of any private interpretation, for prophesy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”

“SANCTIFY them by your TRUTH.  Your word is TRUTH.  (John 17:17)
