Guilt and Shame
Guilt and shame are the results of Adam's sin. Guilt is an accusing memories that creates a total lack of peace. Our conscience accuses us of violation of God's commands. Our guilt leads to a person hiding from God. The Lord says: "There is no peace, says the Lord, for the wicked." (Isaiah 48:22) The wicked have a lot of guilt; therefore, they experience no peace in their hearts.

A sensitive conscience is God's moniter as it alerts us to the moral quality of what we do or plan to do; forbids lawlessness and irresponsibility, and makes us feel guilt, shame, and fear of the future retribution that it tells us we deserve, when we have allowed ourselves to defy its restraints. Our conscience is the soul's automatic warning system regarding the boundaries of sins.

Our shame affects our self-image. It is no longer that I did a bad thing, but I feel like a bad person. People are consumed with toxic shame, because they have violated all the laws of God. Their guilt and shame
condemns and accuses them. Therefore, they experience a lot of self-rejection and their self-image is smeared with toxic shame.

In the Garden of Eden, God covered their nakedness (they felt naked because of their guilt and shame) by shedding the blood of an innocent lamb and covering them with the skin of the lamb. It was an object lesson teaching that it was the blood that makes an atonment (appeasement or satisfaction) for the soul (Leviticus 17:11).

When John the Baptist saw Jesus Christ, he declared: ".....Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world." (John 1:29). In the book of Hebrews 9:14, the Word of God declares: "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offer Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God." In the book of Romans 5:9, the Word of God declares: "Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him." His blood saves us from the wrath of God!

It is the blood of Christ that gives us access to God in order that we can be forgiven moment by moment as we walk in the light of His presence.
If we do one thing; then God will do three things. The thing that we must do is to acknowledge (admit or owe up to it our sin) then God will do three things: FORGIVE-FORGET-FREED US FROM OUR GUILT AND SHAME. "If we confess our sins, then He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9).

Yes, He will forgive those who abort their baby and now live under the weight of condemnation, guilt and shame. He forgave King David, who committ adultery and murder!

Every time that we sin against God we can expect three immediate consquences: Guilt-Shame-Unhealthy fear of God (fear of retribution or punishment) that causes us to hide from Him. Therefore, our moral health will determine our emotional and mental health.
A lot of people have serious emotional and mental health issues because their guilt accuse and torment them; then causes them to have a lot of self-rejection.

You can try to run from God, but you cannot run from your guilt and shame! They are the
Hounds of Heaven.
