BACKSLIDDEN CHRISTIAN

In the book of Proverbs 14:14, the Word of God declares: "The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, but a good man will be satisfied from without."  In Isaiah 53:6, the Word declares: "All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned everyone to his own way...."

In the spiritual realm we are either progressing forward or falling backward. That is, either filled up in our heart with our own selfish ways or filled up with the concerns
of people and the concerns of God. When we become a backslider in heart we will be disconnected from God.

The old Adamic nature of man is tainted by sin and our DNA is influence by Satan. We reflected his image of being self-will, selfish, self-centered and rebellious to all authority especially the authority of God.
  (See Isaiah 14:12-17).

A person who is born again begins to reflect the image of God. Therefore, we will become unselfish and will love others unconditional and unselfish. We become submissive to God's authority and we respect all authority.

God's Word becomes alive and real in our life.  Jesus said in John 6:63: "....the words that I speak unto you are spirit and they are life."  A living Word from a living God. God's Word also will expose and disclose to you your inner motives
and true nature. The Word of God makes you become honest with yourselve.
In Hebrews 4:12 he Word of God declares: "The Word of God is living....and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

When a person is incarcerate they can study and meditate on the Word of God 4-6 hours a day. Therefore, the Word of God becomes precious and powerful. It even becomes soul food: "Thy words were found and I did eat them and they became the joy and rejoicing of my heart; for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of host." (Jeremiah 15:16).

Th end result is that anyone who stays connected to the Word of God will be very connected to God. God will become near and dear to that person.
Satan stragedy is to disconnect us from God. Therefore, the first thing that happens to a person who is release from prison is they will be surround and controlled by so many distractions that they will quit reading the Word
of God and become disconnected from God.

Ex-offenders are very narcisstic individual, who thrive on the trinity of I, Me, and Myself. They cannot afford to backside and become alienated from others as that will lead them back to becoming addicted to drugs.

Some church members can backslide and maintain some level of respectability.
But an ex-offender, who is a drug addict cannot maintain any level of respectability. Their sins will be quickly exposed and their life will spiral out of control!
